Johansson Leads an Extraction Team in Rebirth

A new teaser clip from a movie that is poised to be a huge summer blockbuster is giving major Jaws vibes. IGN posted a new clip from Jurassic World: Rebirth that shows Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennet character trying to shoot a tranquilizer dart at the giant prehistoric sea creature - seemingly a Mosasaurus, as first seen in Jurassic World.

In the scene, Johansson’s Zora shouts “Another dart” after the first one misses the giant creature. She and her team, including Rupert Friend’s Martin Krebs and Jonathan Bailey’s Dr. Harry Loomis and Mahershala Ali’s Duncan Kincaid, can all be seen onboard the boat that is seemingly in the middle of the sea somewhere.

Zora’s team works quickly to find another dart, but the beastly creature nearly manages to throw Zora and her team overboard. The clip concludes with Zora pointing the tranquilizer gun at the creature. The teaser, which runs just over a minute, can be seen below via IGN.

In Jurassic World: Rebirth, which hits theaters on July 2, Johansson’s character is in charge of an extraction team at an island research facility for the original Jurassic Park. Johansson previously touched on being included in the latest Jurassic movie, saying she faced a bit of a dilemma when meeting with Steven Spielberg, who serves as an executive producer on the newest film, and also directed 1993’s original Jurassic Park.

“I had a meeting with him (Spielberg) and I don’t actually know if he knew the depths of my Jurassic fandom, but I’m hoping that no one explained it to him too thoroughly because it maybe would’ve come off as being a little too much,” Johansson told The Hollywood Reporter. But, she said she thinks it would have been okay if she had shown her true love for the franchise from the beginning.
